Gilgamesh and Enkidu Character Building Plot Essay -- essays papers

Gilgamesh and Enkidu Character Building PlotGilgamesh and Enkidu Character Building PlotThe creation of an intriguing plot must com soldieryd at least one major character whose own actions and external interactions dictate his or her development. External interactions between round characters, static characters, and environmental or supernatural activities, within the plot affect the decisions of the major character, providing the foundation for the story line to proceed. These decisions also mold the characters thoughts, values and will, thereby, influencing future choices. through with(predicate) this pattern of cause and effect, an author can sculpt a character in anyway he or she desires. This character building and story vocalizing technique is nothing new in the history of literature, as it appears in the oldest written story known to man, Gilgamesh. In this classic epic, an unknown author employs these techniques to exemplify and develop the characteristics of the two majo r characters, Gilgamesh and Enkidu, in their march towards their destinies.Gilgamesh exemplifies character development through the arrival and death of his best friend, Enkidu. The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frosts Wind and Window Flower Essay

The Use of Symbolism in Robert Frosts Wind and Window Flower I interpreted this poem as a very no-account one. A love unrequited by the pursued. In the first two lines the poem tells you to forget about the love you share and hear a record of this. Not to literally forget, but possibly put aside. The man is a winter breeze, cold and rough and sort of roams the land. The woman is a window flower, come together off from the outside. This sets up the separation. They can see each other and are kept apart by a glass wall. She has all the comforts of the outside, the affectionateness of the sun and even the company of a caged yellow bird (7) hanging above her. It is almost that the mention of this bird organism caged above her is a sign of this womans status in the home and possibly provided by the wealth of her parents. Although she is shut off from the outside, there is this bird almost captured for her to dissuade her from having thoughts of her actual closed lifestyle. She is being furnished with creature comforts instead of with freedom. Maybe because those above her feel she cannot ha...

Kidney Thieves Urban Legend :: Urban Legends

Losing Organs at a Party The Kidney Thieves Legend and the Immigrant ExperienceMy family, intimately being first generation immigrants, has at times a slightly negative view of American culture. Because of this, many of the family dinner conversations are about the differences in the midst of American and Iranian cultures and often how the Iranian culture is better in some ways. To support this theory many urban legends are brought up that tell the dark side of the American culture. For example, when the family was gathered together for the Iranian new year, a version of the famous legend about the traveler who was drugged and robbed of his organs in a hotel room was told by a family member. It is important to note that he told the story in Farsi, which means that I am translating and not besides re-telling the story verbatim. The storytellers version of the story was about an Iranian foreign exchange student who had recently come to the US. The story begins with the student, bein g alone in this country, termination to a party he had heard of from other students. In the party, having had a few drinks, another American thing my family is against, he met a beautiful devoid girl who offered him a drink and asked to go to his place at the end of the night. The tone with which he described the girl was specially interesting, noting that even the innocent aspect girls cannot be trusted. The story goes that the Iranian student did not remember anything from that point on until he woke up the next day in his bathtub cover with ice. There was also a note next to him telling him not to move and call 911. When the ambulance arrived at his apartment he was told that his kidney was removed and that he was not the first person this has happened to. To add to the accuracy and suspense of the story, the storyteller, a physician, mentioned how the ice was used to keep the students body cold to prevent prodigal blood loss and inflammation, which was essentially what kept him alive. After being discharged from the infirmary for a few weeks with a missing kidney, a big hospital bill, and having fallen behind his studies, the student found out that there is an organized ring of organ thieves who specialize in lonely foreign students, who are as the storyteller sees it, more susceptible to being seduced by girls.

Baz Luhrmanns William Shakespeare Essay Essay

William Shakespeare is one of the greatest poet and playwright in history. He is famous for plays that reach the his audience emotionally even though most of them were written 500 plus years ago. One of William Shakespeare most famous play is Romeo and Juliet which has being adapted many generation over the years into modern chance variables to fit in with the audiences taste. Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, my name is Heitor Hilberto and Im here to talk about Romeo and Juliet.Baz Luhrmans 1996 adaptation of the unsullied respect story of Romeo and Juliet had a great impact to its vast audience leaving most in tears. The technical and film codes were used very affectively in Baz Luhrmans adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, it does this by the reconstruction of the films location to the busy location of Verona, the action photographic camera shots were well timed and positioned, the characters where modernised to suit the setting of the beach by using bright colours in their clo thing. The celluloid connected with the audience because it was set in a modern city that the story took place in the big Verona, the movie followed the same timeline of events as the original play barely was much easier to understand because it was set in the 90s which it makes it easier for us to relate and understand the movie if its at least set in our century. They used very dramatic lighting to enhance the scenes which helped the camera crew get the best workable shots of the characters faces, costumes, movements and the locations also made the movie very exciting, creating great drama because they knew when to used soft and hard lighting to enhance the movie, some of the best scenes showing the camera shots would be the petrol station which used soft lighting but steadfast and concentrated camera shots to make the action intense and very fast passed. The party at the cablets house which used hard lighting to show the party was vibrant with very bright colours, exiting and vi vid but the pool state scene lighting was very soft and used a romantic camera angles which just credited the lighting and concentrated to the characters face to show their emotions and their love for one another. The costumes where very stylish and made the film reach out to its audience both young and old, costumes and props are very important to Romeo and Juliet, ( lurhmans 1996 version ) costumes arent only make the characters look good and stylish, it enables viewers to make rationale judgements about the characters, looks and how they might fit in society very quickly, the costumes in the party scene at the cablets house shows how the costumes can show the characters role in the movie, for example Juliet was dressed as an angel to show that she was sweet and pure, but Mercutio was dressed as the devil because he is an evil and dangerous man.William Shakespeare is one of the greatest poets and play writer in history. Thank you for your time and patience today.

Privacy and Security Breaces at Acxiom

Privacy and Security Breaches at Acxiom Case cartoon Chapter 4 Privacy and Security Breaches at Acxiom Case Study Chapter 4 Acxiom might be the most classical organization that most of us birth never heard of. They are the worlds largest mainframe of consumer data, collecting and analyzing more than a billion records a day (Bigdoli, 2012). Acxiom was founded in 1969, and its headquarters is located in Little Rock, Arkansas ( more or less Acxiom, 2013). Its customers include nine of the countrys extremum ten credit-card issuers, as advantageously as nearly all the major retail banks, insurers, and auto impinge onrs (Behar, 2012).Unfortunately, Acxiom has been faced with some breaches of shelter that have led the company make some important security changes/upgrades. In 2003, Daniel Bass, a 24 year old computer-systems administrator was found to have stolen the data of millions of individuals from Acxioms databases. He exhausted two years collecting this information and stored it on compact discs (Behar, 2004). He broke into their system by simply cracking passwords (Behar, 2004). Bass was not the solely hacker to crack Acxiom however. plot authorities were investigating Bass, they ultimately discovered an additional hacker group from Boca Raton, Florida, who had cracked the passwords for the same server that Bass had gotten into as well. While they rise to powered information for millions of people it did not appear that either hacking incident resulted in the defrauding of any of the individuals whose data was stolen (Behar, 2012). Acxiom definitely privationed to do something to beef up their security measures and protect their customers data. They first hired a chief security officer, which had not been a position until these incidents. The chief security officer instituted mandatory encryptions, as well as working to prevent cybercrimes. Acxiom additionally began to conduct security audits (both conducted from inside and outside firms) to test for w eaknesses in security. As far as privacy is concerned, Acxiom is considered to have one of the most stringent privacy policies there are. You can read it here http//www. acxiom. com/about-acxiom/privacy/.They had a privacy officer long before they had a security officer. In terms of privacy, we are left questioning whether the government should have access to the information that is collected. I believe that the government should have solo limited access. Acxiom was able to help the government with the investigation of the terrorist 9/11 attacks (Behar, 2004). The government should only be granted access to information relevant to important cases, not just have free reign to interpret all of the data any way they see fit.Other organizations might also feel they need access to this private data for security reasons. While I do not see how this could ever happen, the possible organizations that might feel they need access to such information might be school districts, private securit y firms, real estate professionals (especially high end), colleges and universities. While safety is an important issue at all of these places (and most others), having access to this sort of information does not guarantee safety, but in fact places unfair targets on many harmless individuals.References About Acxiom.
